Description

Abhyanga oiling is a very effective ayurvedic therapy to deeply express self-love, also known as Snehana. For thousands of years, it has been used to treat many physical and mental disorders. However, in daily use, it is performed to prevent illness, promote health, and support longevity.

Abhyanga means self-massaging the entire body with warm herb-infused oil. Regular application of healing herbs and oils can slowly bring nourishment to a deeper level to all systems of the body. It removes toxins by improving blood and lymphatic circulation. The practice is very effective to calm the nervous system, reduce stress, bring mental-emotional balance, and promoting sleep. It also strengthens bones and induces flexibility in joints.

Basically, a massage with abhyanga oil optimizes the function of the entire body, brings vigor and stamina, prevents signs of aging, and promotes overall tone, vitality, and longevity.

Ingredients*: Sesame Oil, Coconut Oil, Olive Oil, Ashwagandha, Giloy, Brahmi, Bringaraj, Arjuna, Holy Basil, Licorice, Valerian, Vitamin E oil, Lavender, and Clary sage

Abhyanga Direction: Warm the desired amount of the abhyanga oil by putting the container in hot water for a few minutes. Sit on a towel or old mat in a warm room. Start the oil application on the legs and slowly work upwards until every part of your body is massaged. Use long strokes on limbs, and circular motion on joints, chest, abdomen, and back. Massage the scalp gently, with or without oil.

Cover yourself with comfortable clothes or a robe, and wait at least half an hour to allow the essence of the herbs and oil to penetrate deeper tissues. Afterward, take a lukewarm shower.

*Avoid oil application on soles during whole-body Abhyanga to avoid falls and injury. The feet can be oil-massaged separately at night before going to bed for five-ten minutes. After the massage, wipe off extra oil, put on socks, and go to bed.
